Facebook and iPhone addictions

This stuff is funny. And a little too close to home. Ugg. I don’t update my profile picture often or change my status every hour. But, come on, what’s wrong with telling the world that you’re out shopping or something funny just happened? Isn’t that why it’s there? So, my conclusion is this: We shouldn’t neglect those that are around us physically for those that aren’t. For example, it’s like a cashier talking on the phone to another customer while you’re standing in line waiting. Doesn’t that irritate you? I’m just as bad as anyone, but hopefully, my activity on facebook and with the iPhone is relevant and not just stupid.

Ok, I have to leave the house now to do some “real world” stuff with my “real world” friends. If you want to know what I’m doing … check me out on facebook. Just kidding.  I’ll be here. Wait, that’s sort of the same thing.

I guess this is sort of me. Not all of it, but a little bit.

Things that have changed since the iPhone

I got an iPhone on Halloween. I remember because it was the day my life changed. I’ve bought gadgets in the past, but none has affected (or is it effected) my life in such a dramatic way. It’s been good and it’s been a little bad. I’ve been chastised for playing around with it too much and I’ve received a lot of attention because it does something cool. Here’s something I was thinking about today. You can be the judge if they are good or bad. It’s just some “funny” stuff I was thinking about.

  1. I want to use every screen as a touch screen. I was using Michelle’s phone the other day and trying to touch the screen to select something. I did it several times before realizing what I was doing.
  2. I never forget a joke (even if I do forget it, it’s usually one google away).
  3. I know the answer to everything (nearly). I can maybe find the answer to everything. MAYBE.
  4. My facebook usage has skyrocketed. It’s a little creepy (I know) that when you post on my wall or comment on my status, I almost instantly know and reply if appropriate. Or if you comment on here, I know almost immediately. Sorry. It’s just what happens.
  5. I talk to Noel more.
  6. I have noticed that I mess around with it when I shouldn’t (e.g. church, parties/get-togethers, work, while driving). Now, I leave it in the truck at church. I have to take it to parties and work because it’s a camera and stuff happens there I want to document. And I’m trying to stop doing it while driving. I certainly won’t mess with it while in heavy traffic, but if I’m on an empty straight road. Yeah, I’ll look at it.
  7. I have something (else) to do in the bathroom.
  8. I always have a camera. My camera stopped working months ago on my old Razr.

I could probably add more. That’s just what I can think of right now.  BTW, I thought of this post while driving and checking my email.
